Learn about Chingshya
Chingshya Lee was born on May 14, 1967 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. After having fought breast cancer for 22 years, she was taken home by her loving Heavenly Father at 10:40 am on May 2, 2021, in Metro Detroit, Michigan, USA,12 days short of 54 years on earth.
Chingshya is pre-deceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband (Michael Chang), and three sisters.
Chingshya had a thirst for love when she was a child, however she often felt inferior because her family was poor. It was not until junior high school that she was attracted by God's love, believed in the Lord, and gradually grew into maturity in His love. In 1996, God led her to graduate study at Wayne State University. At that time, she participated in the Wayne State Campus Chinese Bible Study and joined the Metro Detroit Chinese Alliance Church. When Wayne Chinese Alliance Church was founded in 2003, she started to serve faithfully as one of the core members till her homecoming. She loved the Lord and people, enjoyed great conversation, making friends, and sharing food (especially desserts) with young people. She had been consistently serving Chinese students in the U.S. and helping them adopt to new life in the U.S. She had always been an elder sister figure and young people love to approach her and to follow her example.
Chingshya was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999, and she later experienced four recurrences. The last recurrence was in 2014 and the extensive and painful treatments lasted for 7 years. Even though she had suffered much as she experienced declines in multiple bodily functions during the treatments, she had faced this hardship with peace. No matter how difficult the situation was, Chingshya kept her gentle spirit and was submissive to the Lord by firmly trusting in Him. Meanwhile, she continued to care for those in need with her sensitivity. In her free time, Chingshya appreciated the wonderful creations of God the Father and she enjoyed taking care of flowers, plants, and small animals, which brought her constant joy. Chingshya's gentleness and submissiveness, as well as her courage and strength by trusting in the Lord, have deeply touched and inspired all the brothers and sisters around her.
Chingshya was married to Brother Jungmao Michael Chang in 2005. Both of them had experienced many physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges previously. However, through their faith in God, they entered into this God-made marriage that was full of grace and miracles. During their 16 years of marriage, they had grown to be each other's best friend under God's providence. Based on the love of the Lord Jesus, they had made each other a better person, and they had come to respond to God's grace together. In their sufferings, they had supported and comforted each other, revealed firm and deep love in every way, and became more and more affectionate every day. Their relationship had become such a beautiful testimony and a channel of blessing to the church and to everyone around them.
